In 1925 a four-faced McClintock clock was placed on the northwest corner of what was then the Snell National Bank in downtown Winter Haven.  Over the past 83 years the clock has stood silent sentry over the intersection of Central Avenue and Fourth Street, NW, becoming one of the community’s most recognizable landmarks.

“Buy a Little Time” is a volunteer effort to raise the money necessary to restore the clock to its original appearance with a modern mechanism (the original manually wound mechanism is no longer practical).  Organizers include Main Street Winter Haven, Winter Haven Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Winter Haven.

To repair and electrify the McClintock Clock, the cost is estimated to be $27,000… a little more than $1,000 for each hour in a single day.  We have devised a series of investment levels to allow anyone to “Buy a Little Time” as follows:

The “High Noon” Sponsor will be designated as the “Presenter” and all sponsors of one hour or more will be noted on a plaque placed beneath the clock.  All gifts will be noted in the celebrity program.

Once restored, a Celebration is being planned for the formal dedication of this historic landmark.  The Celebration will be street party complete with food, refreshments, and entertainment with Central Avenue closed for the event.

The fund drive will continue until sufficient restoration funds are on hand.  A convenient donor form is below.  Funds collected for the McClintock Clock will be restricted solely for its restoration.
